Rachael Roth Named to Academic All-District Soccer Team

University of Minnesota women's soccer player Rachael Roth (Wayzata, Minn.,/Wayzata HS) has been named to the 2002 Verizon Academic All-District V University Division Women's Soccer Team. A junior, Roth was one of three forwards named to the team, which encompasses schools from Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and Wisconsin, as well as the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and Ontario.
Roth maintained a 3.28 GPA in her major of sport studies. She led the 2002 Golden Gophers in points (26), goals (11), assists (4) shots (64), shots on goal (37) and game-winning goals (4). Roth stands in eighth place on Minnesota's career goals list with 19 and in ninth place on the career points list at 46 (19g, 8a).
To qualify for the team, student-athletes must hold at least sophomore status, own a minimum grade-point average of 3.2 and be either a starter or a key reserve for their team. The 11 student-athletes named to the All-District V Team will appear on the national ballot for the Verizon Academic All-America Women's Soccer Team, which will be announced Tuesday, Nov. 26.
