Final Dollar Figure for "Save Gopher Sports" Telethon

rUniversity of Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletics announced today the total amount raised by the "Save Gopher Sports" telethon and the on-line auction equaled $673,000.
With the amount of money raised from this past weekend, Minnesota Athletics still needs to raise approximately $525,000 to reach its 2.7 million-dollar goal by Feb. 1 to keep the sports of men's and women's golf and men's gymnastics from being eliminated by the University due to budget limitations.
Intercollegiate Athletics is still taking donations. Fans are urged to call (612) 625-1001 to help "Save Gopher Sports."
