Mason Announces Coaching and Player Moves

coacUniversity of Minnesota head football coach Glen Mason announced two coaching moves and 10 player moves effective immediately. Moe Ankney was promoted from defensive coordinator to assistant head coach, while Greg Hudson was promoted to defensive coordinator. Both coaches will still hold their position coaching duties, as Ankney will continue coaching defensive ends and Hudson remaining as linebackers coach.

Mason also made several player moves as Josh Brenny moved from tackle to guard, Maurice Buchanan from defensive end to defensive tackle, Eric Clark from defensive tackle to defensive end, Justin Fraley from linebacker to safety, Charlton Keith from defensive end to linebacker, Dominique Sims from safety to linebacker, Scott Stephenson from defensive end to defensive tackle, Tyson Swaggert from defensive end to center, Matt Spaeth from defensive end to tight end, and Danny Upchurch from defensive back to wide receiver.

Mason also announced that these players have undergone recent surgery: defensive tackle Ryan Domin (shoulder), defensive tackle Dan Kwapinski (knee), quarterback Bobby Grandas (knee), receiver Keith Matthews (knee) and linebacker Eric Washington (knee).
