WisconsiSenior defenseman Matt DeMarchi scored with less than four minutes to play as Minnesota completed a two-game sweep at Wisconsin, 3-2. The Golden Gophers moved into sole possession of third place in the WCHA with the win.

Following a scoreless first period, Wisconsin got on the board first as Ryan MacMurchy scored on his own rebound at the 1:19 mark. Minnesota wasted little time in respondin as Jake Fleming took the feed from Andy Sertich and punched it past Bernd Bruckler at 3:51.

Later in the second, freshman Thomas Vanek tallied his team-leading 13th goal of the season. Vanek dug the puck out from the corner, brought it in front of Bruckler and managed to slip it past his fellow Austrian.

The 2-1 lead held until midway through the third period when DeMarchi was called for tripping. On the power-play, the Badgers capitalized as Rene Bourque knotted the game on his wrap-around.

DeMarchi saved the day for Minnesota as he crashed the net and took the cross-ice pass from Dan Welch. He buried the puck for his fourth goal of the season, which ties his career-high.

Travis Weber had his second strong outing of the weekend as he faced 17 shots and made 15 saves. Bruckler stopped 40 shots as Minnesota outshot the Badgers 43-17.
