Tigers Edge Gophers 6-5 In Thriller

Nick Anthony scored his second goal of the game with 7:20 left but the Tigers were able to fend off a furious Golden Gopher rally in the final minutes. CC was forced to kill a penalty over the last two minutes to preserve the win.
Minnesota senior John Pohl continued his stellar play with a shorthanded goal and two assists to give him eight points in the last three games. Sophomore Troy Riddle had a career-high four points, all on assists.
The Tigers jumped on Minnesota early, taking a 2-0 lead after the first period on two goals from Chris Hartsburg. Minnesota knotted the game at 2-2 in the second period on tallies from Anthony and Matt DeMarchi.
Mark Cullen scored at the 8:36 mark of the second period to give CC a 3-2 lead but the Gophers scored two more times to end the second period to take a 4-3 lead. Pohl and Dan Welch scored the goals.
Colorado College's rally in the third period included goals from Jason Jozsa, Alex Kim and Clarke. Travis Weber took the loss for Minnesota, stopping 24 of 30 shots. Jeff Sanger picked up the win, stopping 43 of 48 shots.
The WCHA foes tangle again tomorrow evening at Mariucci Arena. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
