Iowa State Wins Rematch Over Women's Gymnastics

Minnesota led Iowa State after the first two rotations, but the Cyclones stepped in to take the lead after the Gophers counted one fall on beam and scored 48.725.
Senior Courtney Norman (Minneapolis, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) put in a career performance on vault. She scored a 9.925 to tie her career-high and the Minnesota all time record, a record she set last season. She placed second on the apparatus behind Iowa State's Shelly Kringen's 9.95 score. Leigh Dixon (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./The Bishop's School) scored a 9.85 to place fourth, while MaryAnne Kelley (Barrington, Ill./Fremd) and Mary Skokut (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) each scored 9.80 to tie for sixth place. Minnesota earned a season-high on vault as a team scoring 49.125.
Skokut led the Gophers on bars with a 9.90, finishing second behind Iowa State's Sissy Huey's 9.925 performance. Annie Laatsch (Lakeville, Minn./Burnsville) and Kelly Watson (Brampton, Ontario/Brampton Centennial) tied third place after each scored a 9.875.
Kelley took top nods on beam after putting in another 9.925, a score that ties for second on the Gopher all-time records list. Laatsch's 9.90 tied for third place.
Kelley torched the floor exercise again scoring a 9.95 mark which ties her career-high and the Gopher all time record for the second week in a row.
The Gophers' record is now 8-3 overall. Minnesota will next compete in California against UCLA on March 3.
