Minnesota Women Dominate Minnesota Challenge

eveThe University of Minnesota women's swimming and diving team won every event on Saturday, day two of the Minnesota Challenge, at the University Aquatic Center to sweep the meet by winning 19 of 20 events for the weekend.

Junior Kim Bahmer won the three-meter diving competition with a personal best score of 512.65 points, marking the fifth best performance in school history. Bahmer placed second in the one-meter diving with a season best score of 268.80.

Sophomore diver Shannon Jackson won the one-meter diving (279.15 points) and placed third in the three-meter diving (457.95) to qualify for the NCAA Diving Zones in both events. First year diver Abbie Bowden placed fifth in the three-meter diving competition with a NCAA qualifying score of 444.80 points. Junior Holly Hanneman placed second in the three-meter diving (469.00) and third in the one-meter diving (256.95) competition.

The Gophers have a week off before traveling to Ann Arbor, Mich. to compete in the 2002 Big Ten Championships on Feb. 21-23.
