Men's Gymnastics Finishes Third at Ohio State Meet

Junior Clay Strother, a two-time NCAA Champion, finished second in the all-around competition with a score of 53.100. He placed first on the pommel horse (9.650), second on vault (9.400), fifth on parallel bars (8.700), eighth on the floor exercise (9.100) and rings (8.700), and 16th on high bar (7.550).
The Golden Gophers overall placed first on vault (37.500) and second on floor exercise (37.125) and pommel horse (35.450). The Ohio State Buckeyes won three of the six events and supplied the all-around winner Raj Bhavsar, who became the highest all-around scorer in the nation this season with 56.200.
Minnesota's other top finishers included junior Tim Koehler's first- place finish on the vault (9.450), sophomore Eric Steele's third-place on the floor (9.525), fourth-place on the rings (9.000), and fifth- place on the vault (9.300), senior Bob Goss' third-place on the horse (9.400), freshman Guillermo Alvarez's fourth-place on the floor (9.400), freshman Clinton Mays' fourth-place on the vault (9.350), and sophomore Gabe Suarez's sixth-place on rings (8.850).
Gold Country plays host to the 2002 Big Ten Championships on March 22- 23 at the Sports Pavilion.
