Minnesota started the scoring at the 2:02 mark of the second period on an even strength goal by Matt Koalska. Judd Stevens provided the assist. Just 3:35 later, Paul Martin scored on the power play from Jordan Leopold and Jeff Taffe to give the Golden Gophers a 2-0 lead.
The Golden Gophers took a 3-0 lead just 27 seconds into the third period when John Pohl put a backhand on the top shelf to beat Jake Moreland.
St. Cloud State got on the board at the 2:25 mark of the third period during a two-man advantage when Ryan Malone tapped home a pass from Jon Cullen. Hauser shut the door the remainder of the way, making several spectacular saves.
Hauser improved his season record to 17-5-4 while Moreland took the loss for the Huskies, falling to 6-4-0.
The Golden Gophers will host North Dakota next weekend in a best-of-three WCHA first round playoff series at Mariucci Arena.
