Gopher Women's Golf in Fourth Place After Day One

trailThe Golden Gopher women's golf team is in fourth place after the first day's action of the Duck Invitational, hosted by the University of Oregon. Minnesota shot rounds of 311 and 300 for 611 and trails Washington (586), Idaho (602) and San Francisco (605) heading into Friday's final round.

Susannah Laing of San Francisco shot the tournament's lowest round, a 2-under par 70, to take the individual lead at 1-under par 143 after two rounds.

Minnesota's top two golfers, Karyn Stordahl and Tai Kinney, posted identical scores in the first two rounds, carding rounds of 77 and 74 for a 7-over par 151. The duo is tied for 15th place.

Other Gophers competing are Cindy Cannon, who is tied for 26th at 153 (78-75), Kirstin Whalen</ a>, who is tied for 37th at 156 (78-78), and Terra Petsinger, who is tied for 46th at 158 (78-80).
