Women Gymnasts End Home Season With Victory Over UNC

In the final home meet for the Gophers, the seniors stepped up to lead the squad. It was a fine farewell for Gopher senior MaryAnne Kelley who broke the school floor record earning a 9.975. The previous school record was 9.95, last reached by Kelley on Feb. 23 against Iowa State. Kelley also took top nods on balance beam tying her career high 9.95 and the all around with a 39.525.
Each performing four year gymnast recorded a 9.90 in at least one event. After recording one of the first-ever perfect 10s in Gopher history a week ago, senior Courtney Norman took the vault title with a 9.90 performance. She went on to earn a 9.85 on floor exercise, finishing sixth.
Megan Beuckens' 9.90 on floor exercise tied her season high, placing second in the event.
Sophomore Annie Laatsch earned first place on bars with a 9.90. She was followed by Kelley and Mary Skokut who each tied second place scoring 9.825.
Minnesota set a season-high on floor exercise with a 49.450 mark. The final regular season meet for the Gophers will be Thursday, March 14, against Arizona. The Gophers are ranked ninth in the nation.
