Women Gophers Compete at Long Beach State Invitational

LPole vaulters Erica Findlay and Monica Stearns led the Gophers with their season-best vaults at the Long Beach State Invitational on Saturday, April 20.
Stearns and Findlay both vaulted 12-feet, 1/2-inch at the meet, marking a season-best performance for both Gophers. Stearns performance also was a person-best leap for the sophomore.
Newcomer Paula Hoffert</ a> placed third in the 1500-meter run with a personal-best time of 4:45.06 seconds. Shari Schutz also achieved a personal-best in the 100-meter hurdles, running a time of 14.94 seconds. Newcomer Melissa Steele ran a personal-best time in the 400- meter dash, placing fourth with a time 2:17.88.
Jill Field and Amy Sas finished second and third, respectively, in the 5000-meter run, posting times of 18:12.78 and 18:14.76.
