"We're very fortunate to have someone of Vic's quality and experience already in the program," said Monson. "He knows the system and has a great relationship with our players. We're excited about his promotion."
Couch joined the Maroon and Gold after he served as an assistant coach at Santa Clara University from 1997-2000. A former standout player for the Broncos, Couch earned his bachelor's degree in English in 1985.
Prior to working for the Broncos, Couch put together a successful five- year stint as a high school coach in California. From 1986-88, Couch coached at John F. Kennedy High School in Fremont, Calif., where he led the school to two straight sectional championships. He then coached at Servite High School in Anaheim, Calif., from 1990-93, where he directed his team to both a state championship in 1991 and a southeastern sectional championship in 1992.
The program will begin a search for a new Director of Basketball Operations immediately.
