Green Bay, Wis. - Sophomore pitcher Piper Marten continued her dominant season as she threw her fourth no-hitter of the year in the nightcap of Minnesota's sweep of Wisconsin-Green Bay, 2-1 and 4-0. The Gophers upped their record to 37-17, while Marten moved to 22-10.

Marten struck out 10 in her eighth complete-game shutout of the season. The Farmington, N.M., native now has a Big Ten Conference leading 275 strikeouts on the season. Marten also now has 525 in her career, just five away from Jennifer Johnson's (1993-97) school record.

The Gophers provided Marten an early cushion scoring in the first and second innings. Anne Thul and Stephanie Sward provided RBI hits, as Tammi Hays and Hailee Nanchy scored. Shelly Nichols added her seventh homerun of the season in the sixth inning, before Hays drove in Allie Fisk in the seventh to cap the scoring.

In the opener, Angie Recknor (14-7) allowed just one run on three hits, while striking out three to earn the victory. It was Recknor's seventh complete game of the season.

After spotting the Phoenix an early lead, the Gophers scored a pair of runs in the fifth inning to earn the win. With one out, Hays doubled to leftfield. Christine Lindberg immediately singled to center to drive in Hays. Thul later singled to right to plate Erin Wallace, who was pinch-running for Lindberg.

Hays went 7-for-8 during the double header to up her batting average to .411 on the season, while Nanchy and Rachel Keeney both went 2-for-3 in the opener.

Minnesota will wrap up the regular season this weekend when the Gophers travel to Madison to take on the Badgers of Wisconsin. Saturday's game will begin at 6 p.m., while Sunday's contest will begin at 1 p.m.
