Women Throwers Compete at Tommy Twilight

one-two-threeThe University of Minnesota women's track and field team competed at the Tommy Twilight hosted by St. Thomas University of Wednesday, May 1 in St. Paul, Minn.

The women throwers went one-two-three in the discus competition to complete a full event sweep. Amy Netland, Jessica Stephan and Heidi Crabtree threw 144-6, 137-10 and 136-7, respectively, to place first, second and third in the event.

Winning the shot put was sophomore Alean Frawley, throwing a distance of 48-feet, 7 1/2-inches. Frawley also placed third in the hammer throw with a season-best throw of 142-feet. Teammate Megan Johnson finished second in the hammer throw with a toss of 148-feet, 5-inches. Dalee Wilkenson placed second in the javelin with a season-best throw of 114-feet, 10-inches.

Up next, the Gophers host the Minnesota Open on Saturday, May 4 at the Bierman Track and Field Complex at 11 a.m. Minnesota also travels to Ames, Iowa to compete in the Iowa Twilight on May 4 at 4 p.m.
