onC.J. Woodrow helped Minnesota earn its second Big Ten Championship in the past three seasons by pitching a complete-game shutout against Ohio State on Saturday to collect conference Pitcher of the Week accolades. The junior right-hander earned the win in game two of the crucial series, blanking the Buckeyes for seven innings, while allowing only five hits and striking out seven. Three of his five hits allowed were in the infield, and he did not issue a single walk in the game. The Golden Gophers would go on to split a pair of games on Sunday to edge Ohio State by one-half game for the league crown and the right to host the Big Ten Tournament. Woodrow improved to 7-1 in conference play, winning his fifth straight game and recording his sixth-consecutive complete-game effort. He is the third member of the Gophers' starting rotation to earn the weekly Big Ten honor (Jay Gagner - 3/4; Craig Molldrem - 4/8), and it marks the third time in three weeks that a Minnesota player has been praised. Junior shortstop Scott Welch, who currently leads the Big Ten in league hitting, was given the weekly award on back-to-back occasions prior.
