Women's Track and Field Announces Recruits

LettersThe University of Minnesota women's track and field coaching staff announced that Majik Reed (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLasalle) and Christine Francis (Blackhawk, S.D./Sturgis) have signed National Letters of Intent.

Reed, a Minneapolis, Minn., native will join the team as a sprinter. She was a Minnesota state champion in the 100 and 200-meter as a frosh and sophomore at DeLasalle High School.

Francis, a Blackhawk, S.D., native is a long jump, sprinter turned thrower. She was the South Dakota state champion in the shot put in her first year throwing as a junior.

"We couldn't be more pleased with our recruits," said the Minnesota coaching staff. "They will definitely be major role players for this team."

Francis and Reed will join the Minnesota track and field team for the 2003 season.
