Chris Higgins Named Assistant Soccer Coach

MinnesotUniversity of Minnesota Head Women's Soccer Coach Barbara Wickstrand announced today the hiring of Chris Higgins as assistant coach. Higgins replaces former assistant coach Eric Bell who left Minnesota for a a similar position at the University of Ilinois. Higgins resumes his post on Thursday, Aug. 1.
?I want to wish Eric well,? Wickstrand said. ?We both believe this is a solid professional move for his quest to become a head coach in Division I soccer. On the other hand, I am delighted to have Chris on staff, especially on this short notice. He will bring enthusiasm, desire and a positive attitude to this staff and program.?
Higgins, a native of Apple Valley, Minn., graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in sociology of law, criminology and deviance. Higgins played one season of collegiate soccer at St. Olaf College before transferring to Minnesota where he played for the men's club team. He holds his USSF (United States Soccer Federation) C License.
