Men's Golf Third After Foggy Northern Intercollegiate Opening

fThe University of Minnesota men's golf team is third at the Northern Intercollegiate being played at the Indiana University Golf Course in Bloomington, Ind. The tournament was delayed in the morning for two hours due to fog, and the teams did not complete the opening day of 36-holes because of darkness. The Golden Gophers carded a 3-under-par 281 in the first round, and were even-par on the day when play was suspended. No teams completed their second rounds.

Senior Simon Nash opened the first round with a 2-under 69. Senior Wilhelm Schauman shot a 70 (-1). Juniors David Morgan and Justin Smith both shot opening rounds of even-par 70. Senior Matt Anderson carded a 79 (+8), while freshman Ryan Paulson, competing as an individual, opened with a 6-over 77.

Play will resume Sunday with rounds two and three being completed.
