Northern Michigan Wins Griak Men's Maroon II Race

Northern Michigan cruised to the Roy Griak Invitational Women's Maroon II title, scoring 60 points and placing three runners in the top 10. Wartburg was second with 128 points.

Wartburg sophomore Missy Buttry ran to an easy individual title, posting a time of 17 minutes, 37.7 seconds. Manitoba's Jennifer Ervick placed second in 18:10.7.

"I felt really good and relaxed throughout the whole race," said Buttry. "I liked the course."

Junior Jordan Seethaler placed third (18:16.4), senior Caitlin Crompton finished fourth (18:20.8) and junior Jennifer Lahr ninth (18:38.7) to pace the Wildcats to their Griak victory.

"I came here years ago and thought, 'I wish some day we could win this meet.'" said Northern Michigan men's head coach Sten Fjeldheim. "I didn't think it would be this year, but I am ecstatic about the victory."
