Vasiljeva Wins Intrasquad Race, Gold Team Takes Team Title

A pair of freshmen, Jen Hess (Paynesvills, Minn./Paynesville) and Carly Emil (Mandan, N.D., Mandan), finished third and fourth in their first collegiate races. Hess ran a time of 19:36, while Emil crossed the finish line in 19:51.
"We performed well, especially in this heat and humidity," said Golden Gopher head coach Gary Wilson. "I'm encourage by how tight our pack of runners was. There really weren't any big gaps in our top 15 runners."
The Golden Gophers open their season next Saturday, when they host the Memorial "Oz" Meet.
