Weber Earns Shutout in 4-0 Men's Hockey Win

second Sophomore Travis Weber picked up his second shutout of the season as Minnesota defeated host Alaska Anchorage 4-0 on Friday night. The two teams meet in the rematch on Saturday night at 10 p.m.
Minnesota took the lead in the first period as Garrett Smaagaard brought the puck into the zone and fed it to a trailing Keith Ballard who found the back of the net. The Golden Gophers took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission. Minnesota was scoreless on three power-play opportunities.
The second period belonged to Troy Riddle as the junior scored two goals to give the Maroon and Gold the 3-0 lead. Riddle then added a third-period assist on Paul Martin's power-play marker to finish up the scoring.
Ballard finished with a goal and an assist.
