Golden Gopher Soccer Falls at #11 Penn State 8-1

SuThe University of Minnesota women's soccer team (5-7-1, 2-5-1) was defeated by No. 11 Penn State, 8-1, on Friday night in University Park, Pa. The Golden Gophers will next face No. 25 Ohio State on Sunday afternoon in Columbus, Ohio.
Joanna Lohman got Penn State on the board in the 17th minute by putting home a rebound. The lead was increased to 2-0 on Heidi Drummond's goal from Lohman in the 29th minute.
The Golden Gophers cut the lead to one on senior Anna Nudell Lee's second goal of the season in the 32nd minute. That was as close as Minnesota would get.
The Nittany Lions closed out the first half with a pair of goals just 45 seconds apart. Penn State added four more markers in the second half as the Nittany Lions handed the Golden Gophers their worst loss in the program's history.
Penn State outshot Minnesota 29-4 in the match and remain atop the Big Ten standings at 7-1 and 13-2-2 overall.
