The Bulldogs, champions of the Missouri Valley Conference, took an early lead on Andrea Schmitz's goal in the 11th minute. The lead was increased to 2-0 as Lauren Hoguta scored off a two on one break from Schmitz in the 30th minute.

Drake added a third marker in the second half. Jessie Jandasek scored off a free kick in the 56th minute.

Minnesota finally got on the board at the 62:26 mark as freshman Haley Lentsch scored her sixth goal of the season.

The Golden Gophers failed to rally though as Drake's Julie Van Dike closed out the scoring in the 69th minute.

Minnesota's Marni Prall made five saves in the contest.

With her goal in the second half, Lentsch moved into the team's scoring lead with 17 points and will look to become just the second freshman in the history of the program to pace the team in scoring since the program's inception.

The Golden Gophers (5-10-2) will close out their 2003 season at Iowa State on Sunday afternoon.
