Women's Basketball Hits The Road During Thanksgiving Week

A Busy Travel Week
No. 11/11 Minnesota takes to the road for three games this week. On Tuesday,Minnesota travels to Des Moines,Iowa to face Drake (0-1). The Golden Gophers (2-0) will fly directly out of Des Moines to the Bahamas to compete in the Junkanoo Jam. The Gophers will face Texas A&M (1-1)on Friday, then either Southern California (0-1) or Seton Hall (2-0) on Saturday.

To Follow the Action
The Minnesota/Drake will be broadcast on WMNN Radio (1330 AM),as well as the Minnesota Athletics website at gophersports.com. Tom Witschen will call the action,while Lynnette Sjoquist will provide the color commentary. The two games in the Bahamas are only available locally by webcast, thanks to Fosston radio station KKCQ who will provide the broadcast.

Subway Classic Champions
Minnesota captured its fourth consecutive home tipoff tournament title last weekend, defeating Southern (93-41) and No.16/16 Colorado (95-61). Lindsay Whalen was named the tournament MVP, and was joined by Janel McCarville on the all-tournament team.

Big Time Defense From the Tip
In the Golden Gophers' first two games, opponents Southern (18)and Colorado (16) combined for just 34 points or an average of 17.0 points in the first half. The two teams shot a combined 27.3 percent hitting just 15 field goals in 55 attempts.
