Clark, Darwitz, Stephens Help Minnesota to a 7-0 Win

Clarke score the team's first goal at 5:53 of the first period. Clarke tipped in a Darwitz shot during Minnesota's first power-play opportunity. Kelly Stephens started the play and was credited with the second assist. On the goal, Darwitz hit the century mark when she scored her 100th point of her Golden Gopher career. The Gophers tacked on two more goals by the end of the first for an early 3-0 lead. Krissy Wendell tacked on her second short-handed goal of the season at 12:23. Wendell stole the puck just outside of the blueline, beat a BSU defender and skated in for the goal. Clarke then added her second goal of the period at 13:49 when Stephens and Ashley Albrecht with the assists. The Gophers outshot the Beavers 19-6 in the first period. Minnesota did not allow a shot on goal until the 16:10 mark of the first period.
Danielle Ashley then scored Minnesota's lone goal of the second period. Clarke started the play and passed it to Darwitz. She then fired cross ice to a streaking Ashley for her first goal of her Golden Gopher career.
The Gophers then added another three goals in the third period. Noelle Sutton netted her sixth goal of the season at 1:40 of the third. Melissa Coulombe and Chelsey Brodt set up the play, each tallying their third assist of the season. Minnesota notched its second goal of the third just 2:12 after the period's first goal at 3:52 in the third. Clarke again started the play passing it to Darwitz and fired a shot to Stephens, who was creeping in the back door. Wendell then scored the team's second power-play goal in two opportunities at 13:53. Darwitz fired a cross-ice pass to Wendell who was waiting at the doorstep for her 12th goal of the year.
Jody Horak was in goal for the Golden Gophers and recorded the shutout. Horak stopped all 23 Beaver shots on goal. It was her third shutout of the season, 12th of her career.
The Gophers will look for the conference-series sweep tomorrow at 4:05 p.m. at Ridder Arena.
