Women's Swimming Completes First Day of Big Ten Championships

Minnesota opened the league championships with a sixth-place finish in the 200 medley relay. The 200 medley relay team of Megan Moore, Keri Hehn, Sarah Bohlsen and Dana Baum finished in 1:42.72. With the time, it provisionally qualified them for NCAA Championships.
The Gophers then finished the 800 medley relay in 7:19.95, good enough for a sixth-place finish. The 800 medley time also provisionally qualified the Gophers for the national championships. Minnesota's relay team contained Baum, Kate Hardt, Kristin Rygg and Katy Coombe. Wisconsin's team 'A' won the event, clocking a new pool record time of 7:07.30. The Badgers are ranked as the top team in the nation in the 800 free.
Minnesota will start the second of four days tomorrow. The preliminaries begin at 11 a.m., while the finals will be held at 7 p.m. Events scheduled for tomorrow's competition will be the 50, 200 and 500-yard freestyle, the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 1-meter diving competition.
