Women's Gymnastics Places Third at Wolfpack Invitational

scoThe 23rd-ranked University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team finished third out of four teams at the Wolfpack Invitational in Raleigh, N.C. Host school North Carolina State won the event with a score of 196.100, followed by North Carolina with 195.300, the Golden Gophers with 194.650 and Illinois State with 193.475.

Minnesota (8-7) finished second on bars (48.825) and floor (48.575) and third on vault (48.325) and beam (48.925). Top finishers for the Maroon and Gold included sophomore Carolyn Yernberg, placing first on vault with a 9.875, senior captain Jenny Alf tying for second on floor with a 9.825, and freshman Laura Johnson tying for third on the bars (9.850) and placing fourth on vault with a 9.800.

The Golden Gopher gymnasts will next be in action Sunday, Mar. 2, when they compete against North Carolina in Charlotte, N.C., at 1 p.m. (CST).
