Riddle and Vanek Named WCHA Players of the Week

--> With a pair of five-point weekends in a sweep at Alaska Anchorage, junior Troy Riddle and freshman Thomas Vanek were named WCHA Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively. It is the second time this season that Vanek has received the rookie honor.

In Friday's 4-0 win, Troy Riddle earned his fifth multi-goal game of the season and added an assist. He picked up his fifth career shorthanded goal in the second period. On Saturday, he collected a pair of assists for his team-best 10th multi-point game.

Vanek collected two goals and three assists in the two games and continues to lead Minnesota in scoring with 21 goals and 18 assists. He had a pair of assists in Friday's shutout win. On Saturday, he picked up his fifth multi-goal game of the season and added an assist for his 10th multi-point game of the year. Vanek leads the nation's rookies in goal scoring with 21 and ranks second with 39 points.

The Golden Gophers travel to Colorado Springs this weekend for a two-game set with No. 1 Colorado College. It will be Minnesota's first trip to the World Arena since March of 2000 when the Golden Gophers swept the Tigers in the first round of the WCHA playoffs.

The series will also be the first time since the season opener that Minnesota will field its full lineup. Junior Matt Koalska has missed the last four games after undergoing hernia surgery.

Friday's game begins at 8:35 p.m. central time with the rematch set for Saturday at 8:05 p.m.
