Guillermo Alvarez Takes Fourth In All-Around At Winter Cup

thUniversity of Minnesota gymnast Guillermo Alvarez finished in fourth place of the all-around competition on the first day of the Winter Cup Challenge held in Las Vegas, Nev.
Alvarez, a sophomore from Denver, Colo., had the top score among 80 all-around competitors in floor exercise, scoring a 9.475. He also finished in the top 10 in vault, tying for third with a 9.300 and tying for sixth on pommel horse with a 9.200.
Alvarez placed 14th on rings with an 8.550, 18th on high bar with a 8.350 and 23rd on parallel bars with an 8.050.
Alvarez qualified for tomorrow night's finals in floor, vault and pommel horse.
