Women Swimmers Win All Five Events at Minnesota Challenge

The Golden Gopher women took the top three spots in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Sarah Solfelt, Sarah Bohlsen, Arianna Gardner, and Colleen Morgan came in with a time of 1:38.88 and placed first.
Kristin Rygg swam the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:00.39 to place first. Rygg was followed closely behind Marko and her time of 5:06.48.
Gold Country took the top eight places in the 200-yard individual medley. 2:09.86 was the time that Lauren Guzauskas needed to place first. Jessica Crawford and Keri Hehn followed closely behind and placed second and third respectively.
Dana Baum took top honors in the 50-yard freestyle. Baum had a time of 24.00, just ahead of Vine's time of 24.10.
The night concluded with the 400-yard medley relay. The top two spots were taken by the Gophers. The team of Shanna Gustafson, Bridget McCoy, Katie Wind, and Jennifer Warmington came in with a time of 4:00.21 to take the top spot.
"The meet tonight really helped our team. It produces more data for us, and allows us to prepare better for the Big Ten Championships," remarked Freeman.
Competition for the Gophers will continue tomorrow at the Aquatic Center with the second and third sessions of the Minnesota Challenge. The second session will begin at noon, followed by the third session beginning at 6 p.m.
