Baseball Sweeps Big Ten Weekly Honors

Gagner pitched seven shutout innings against Cal State Fullerton on Mar. 7 to the end the Titans seven-game winning streak. In that game he only allowed two hits and struck out three batters, shutting down a Cal State Fullerton offense that came into the game averaging 9.7 runs per game. In that game Gagner also helped hand Titan ace Ryan Schreppel the first loss of his collegiate career. It is the second week in a row a Minnesota pitcher has earned this honor. Last week C.J. Woodrow (Plymouth, Minn.) claimed the honors.
Hunter batted .667 with five RBI on the week. He went eight for 12 on the week with two doubles. On Mar. 7, he was two for three with three RBI against No. 2 Cal State Fullerton as he helped lead the Golden Gopher to a 7-1 victory over the Titans. Hunter was also three for four with an RBI against Cal State Fullerton on Mar. 9 in an 8-7 Minnesota win. In that game he had the hit in the eighth inning to set up the game-winning double by David Roach (Clearwater, Fla.). He was also three for five against Minnesota-Duluth on Mar. 5.
Minnesota will be back in action on Friday, Mar. 14 at 3 p.m. when it plays the first of a nine-game California road swing at Stockton, Calif. against Pacific. The Golden Gophers will also play the Tigers again on Saturday, Mar. 15 at 3 p.m. and Sunday, Mar. 16 at 3 p.m. Minnesota takes on San Jose State on Monday, Mar. 17 at 8:30 p.m., Sacramento State on Tuesday and Wednesday Mar. 18-19 at 4 p.m. and at Fresno State on Friday, Mar. 21 at 8:35 p.m., Saturday, Mar. 22 at 3:05 p.m. and Sunday, Mar. 23 at 3:05 p.m. All the times indicated are local to the Central Time Zone.
