Men's Distance Medley Relay Captures All-America Honors

The Golden Gopher men's distance medley relay captured All-America honors with a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Division I Men's Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., on Friday. The foursome of Neil Hanson, Adam Steele, Toby Henkels and Martin Robeck posted a time of 9 minutes, 35.18 seconds. Villanova won the event with a time of 9:29.12.

Minnesota had two individuals - Mitch Potter and Henkels - qualify for the field of eight runners in the finals of their respective events on Friday. Potter, a junior, qualified for the 400-meter final posting a time of 46.31 seconds. Henkels, a senior, qualified for the 800-meter final with a time of 1:48.64.

Junior Mikael Jakobsson competed in the 400-meters as well, running a time of 47:09 to finish in 14th place.

Competition at the NCAA Division I Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by the University of Arkansas, concludes on Saturday.
