Cornthwaite Qualifies for NCAA Championships

CornthFor the second year in a row, Rebecca Cornthwaite has qualified for the NCAA Championships in the platform competition. Cornthwaite finished fourth overall in the platform with a score of 365.95, good enough to compete in national competition, March 20-22 in Texas. With the qualifying score in the platform, Cornthwaite will be able to compete in the 1 and 3-meter diving and the platform events.

The Gophers had four in the top 18 spots in the 3-meter event, three of which placed in the top 10. Cornthwaite led the Gophers in the events when she had a score of 510.00, good enough for eighth place overall. Shannon Jackson finished ninth with a score of 497.65, followed by Kim Bahmer with a 10th-place finish with a score of 497.25. Holly Hanneman placed 17th with a 455.30 score.

Bahmer finished 10th in platform competition with a 322.00 score, followed by Hanneman with a 13th-place finish with a 311.80.

Cornthwaite, along with swimmers Juleen Rodakowski, Dana Baum and Keri Hehn will travel to Texas to compete individually for the NCAA Championships. Rodakowski will compete in the fly, while Baum competes in the free and Hehn in the breaststroke.
