Baseball Ranked No. 24 in Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Poll

aThe Minnesota baseball team made its first appearance of the season in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top-30 at No. 24 on Monday, Apr. 14. Minnesota moved to 20-11 overall and 10-0 in the Big Ten after a four-game sweep of Penn State this past weekend at Siebert Field.

With the 10-0 record in conference play, the Golden Gophers are off their best start since 1993 when they jumped out to an 11-0 record in conference play. The 10-0 start is the second best start in Big Ten play in school history.

Minnesota also got into the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top-30 on the strength of five wins against teams ranked in the poll. The Golden Gophers have won single games from No. 13 Notre Dame, No. 21 Oklahoma State and No. 25 Arizona, while claiming two of three in a series played Mar. 7-9 against No. 3 Cal State Fullerton.

The Golden Gophers will be back in action on Tuesday, Apr. 15 at 6 p.m. when they take on St. Cloud State at Siebert Field. Minnesota will also play UW-Milwaukee in a midweek game at Siebert Field on Wednesday, Apr. 16 at 3 p.m. Following the two midweek games, Minnesota will travel to Champaign, Ill. to take on Illinois in a four-game series. The Golden Gophers will play Illinois Friday, Apr. 18 at 6:35 p.m., Saturday, Apr. 19 at 4:35 p.m. in a doubleheader and Sunday, Apr. 20 at 1 p.m. in a single game.
