Glen Perkins Named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week

2University of Minnesota freshman Glen Perkins (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater) was named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week for Apr. 21 for his complete game shutout performance Friday against Illinois. The southpaw threw his first career complete game, holding Illinois scoreless while striking out a career-high 15 in nine innings. Perkins fanned nine of the last 10 batters he faced to improve to 4-0 in Big Ten play with a 2.03 ERA, which ranks fourth among all League hurlers. He is now 5-1 on the season with a 2.83 ERA and is second in the conference with 63 strikeouts. Perkins is the third Golden Gopher pitcher to earn the weekly conference accolade along with senior C.J. Woodrow (Mar. 4 & 18) and junior Jay Gagner (Mar.11).
