Gopher Women Throwers Highlight Weekend Performances

Junior Nicole Kopari (Thief River Falls, Minn./Thief River Falls) posted the Gophers' top finish of the weekend, placing sixth in the discus with a toss of 158 feet, 3 inches. A total of 73 throwers competed in the event.
The hammer throw featured a field of 108 throwers. Sophomore Jessica Stephan (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) was the top Gopher finisher, placing 35th with a throw of 158-7.
Sophomore Anne Wells (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) topped the Minnesota performances at the Northern Iowa meet. Wells placed third in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:53.27 and fourth in the 800-meers with a clocking of 2:26.00.
The prestigious Drake Relays, run in Des Moines, Iowa, this Thursday-Saturday are next on the Golden Gopher schedule.
