Golden Gophers Help Kick Off Tobacco-Free Message Campaign
6/12/2003 12:00:00 AM | Athletics
visiGolden Gopher women's basketball's Lindsay Whalen and track & field's Jessica Stephan made a recent visit to Prosperity Heights Elementary School in St. Paul to help kick off a tobacco-free message to the children of Minnesota.
The Minnesota Athletics Department and HealthPartners have teamed up to bring a tobacco-free message to fifth and sixth-grade students across Minnesota. The campaign called, "Don't Let Your Game Go Up in Smoke" features Golden Gopher student-athletes as ambassadors to raise awareness about the importance of being tobacco free.
During the campaign, 21 Gopher athletes will visit Minnesota elementary and junior high schools throughout the 2003-04 school year.
