U of M Cheer Team Wins National Championship

Minneapolis, MN - At the United Performing Association National Championships held at the Minneapolis Convention Center February 20 - 22, the University of Minnesota Cheerleaders walked away with several honors. After capturing the College Co-Ed Championship on Saturday, the squad took home 2003 UPA Grand Champion honors Sunday evening.
Several Gopher cheer team members also dominated the individual and small group competitions, with First Place awards going to the following:
All-girl Stunt Champions: Megan Roberts, Tara Luczak, Kelleen Croegaert, Emily Heisinger, Michelle Blonigan
Partner Stunt Champions: Bridget Gruber, Jason Kieffer, Reid Pulley
Jump-Off Champion: Lisa Venne (Runner Up: Karlene Becklund)
Tumble Champion: Dallas Dietrich
Cheer Performer of the Year: Dallas Dietrich
