Strother and Alvarez Selected To Elite U.S. Gymnastics Teams

whUniversity of Minnesota senior gymnast Clay Strother has been selected to the 2003 Pan American Games Men's Gymnastics Team, while sophomore gymnast Guillermo Alvarez has been named to the 2003 World University Games Team.

Alvarez finished 10th overall at the 2003 United States National Championships in the individual all-around with a score of 53.925, while Strother placed 13th with a score of 53.700.

The Pan American Games are scheduled for Aug. 1-17 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The U.S. men won the team silver medal in 1999, with Cuba taking the gold and Canada taking the bronze. The World University Games will be held Aug. 21-31 in Daegu, South Korea.
