The University of Minnesota women's tennis team wrapped up the the season-opening First Annual Gopher Invitational today at the Baseline Center in Minneapolis, Minn.
Minnesota's doubles team of Lindsay Risebrough (Edina, Minn./Edina HS) and Brandi Watts (Monument, Colo./Lewis-Palmer HS), the lone Golden Gophers in action today, lost to Evers and Soriano of Iowa State, 8-4, in consolation play in the "Prince" bracket.

Bob Dylan - Sackmaster/Ginsburg (Denver) def. Messaros/Knysh (Denver), 8-4
David Wheaton - Yanick Dullens (Denver) def. Zorana Stefanovic (Drake), 5-7, 6-4, 6-3
Kevin Garnett - Jenny Trettin (Denver) def. Lyndsey Palen (Gustavus), 6-2, 6-1
Torii Hunter - Beth Messarros (Denver) def. Rachel Sackmaster (Denver), 6-1, 2-6, 6-2
Randy Moss - Crystal Knysh (Denver) def. Marisa Mechem (Denver), 2-6, 6-3, 6-2
The First Annual Gopher Invitational included Denver, Drake, Gustavus Adolphus, Iowa State, Illinois-Chicago, Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin-Green Bay and Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Minnesota is next in action at the William & Mary Invitational on Friday-Sunday, Sept. 19-21.
