Petsinger Leads After Day One of Minnesota Invitational

The Golden Gophers are in second place after shooting rounds of 313-321=634, three shots behind tournament leader Bradley (318-313=631). Minnesota led the tournament after round one, but struggled with the wind in the afternoon and are tied with Eastern Washington going into tomorrow morning's final round.
Petsinger shot the best round of the tournament so far a sizzling 1-under 71 in the first round and leads Shawn Farmer of Eastern Washington and Gigi Marting of Northern Iowa by two shots. Sophomore Sar ah Butler and senior Kat ie Jacobson are tied for ninth, six shots back at 159. Butler carded an opening round 77 followed by an 82 in the afternoon 18 holes. Jacobson fired her best round of the year in round two and the best for a Gopher in the afternoon with a 76. Freshman Lou ise Fleming is tied for 27th at 164 and fellow freshman Sop hie Stubbs is tied for 40th at 170. The final round will begin Sunday morning at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.
