Emily Brown Wins Women's Cross Country Intrasquad Meet

Brown led a Maroon Team that placed three runners in the top five. Sophomore Lauren Williams placed second in 19:22.7, followed by Jen Hess in fourth in 19:28.5.
Zoe Nagell paced the Gold Team with a third-place showing, covering the course in 19:24.6. Harper McConnell placed fifth in 19:37.5.
"It was your typical first meet of the season, but I was pleased at our mental focus in dealing with the warm weather conditions," Golden Gopher head coach Gary Wilson said. "It was nice to see Emily out there competing after a year off. She's in excellent shape and will make an impact for us this season."
Gopher senior Darja Vasiljeva missed the race with a hamstring injury that could cause her to miss the season. Doctors will evaluate her condition next week.
