OffensivThe Western Collegiate Hockey Association has announced that sophomore forward Krissy Wendell has been named the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week for her outstanding performance last weekend. Wendell, a Brooklyn Park, Minn., native, scored six points to help the No. 1 University of Minnesota earn a series sweep over No. 7 Mercyhurst College.

In Friday's 5-1 win, Wendell scored a hat trick and assisted on another for a four-point night. Of her three goals, two were short-handed while the third was the game-winning tally. She followed her four-point performance with a goal and an assist in Saturday's 3-1 win. She set up the game-winning, power-play goal and added an insurance goal. Wendell also helped the Minnesota penalty kill skate off all 10 of Mercyhurst's power play opportunities. She also had a plus/minus rating of +5.

Wendell and the rest of the No. 1 Golden Gophers will host Minnesota State this weekend. Both games are slated for a 1:05 p.m. start Saturday and Sunday at Ridder Arena.
