Wall and Ross Earn WCHA Weekly Honors

Lyndsay Wall and freshman forward Bobbi Ross earned Western Collegiate Hockey Association weekly honors for stellar performances against St. Cloud State this past weekend. Wall was named the WCHA Defensive Player of the Week, while Ross was selected as the WCHA Rookie of the Week, an honor she shared with Minnesota-Duluth's Drazan. The Gophers defeated the Huskies, 7-0 in their home opener and 7-1 in the second game for the sweep.

Wall, hailing from Churchville, N.Y., finished the weekend with five points, all coming during the power play. Wall scored a goal and an assist in the first game, while adding two goals and an assist in the Saturday win. Also a member of the penalty kill, Wall was on the ice for three of the Gophers' five short-handed goals. She finished the weekend with a plus/minus rating of +4. All of Wall's 11 points during the season have come on the power play.

Ross a native of Verwood, Sask., scored her first career goal in Friday's 7-0 win on an unassisted, short-handed attempt. She followed her performance with two assists on Saturday, including one on the power play to total a three- point weekend.

The Gophers head to Bemidji, Minn., to take on the Bemidji State Beavers, Friday and Saturday afternoon. Both games are scheduled for a 2:05 p.m. Start at the John S. Glas Fieldhouse.
