WHK: Gophers Remain on Top of the Polls

holdWith 12 first-place votes, the Golden Gopher women's hockey team remains the No. 1 team in the nation, announced today by U.S. College Hockey Online. With a split against the Gophers, Dartmouth holds the second spot with three first-place votes. Minnesota (15-1-2 overall, 12-0-2 in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association) finished the first semester of play as the No. 1 team for 11 straight weeks. Dating back to last season, the Gophers have been ranked No. 1 in 28 of 32 polls. The poll consists of 15 voters, including 12 coaches of Division I programs and three women's hockey writers.

Minnesota's next action will be on Jan. 7-8 as the Gophers take on Bemidji State, at Ridder Arena. Friday's game is at 7:05 p.m., while Saturday's contest is scheduled for a 2:05 p.m. tilt.
