FB: Wheelwright Named To Sporting News All-Freshman Teams

All-Freshman wide receiver Ernie Wheelwright has been named to both The Sporting News Freshman All-America Team and Big Ten All-Freshman Team. Wheelwright was a third- team selection on the Freshman All-America Team.

Wheelwright, a native of Columbus, Ohio, started nine of 11 games, tallying 30 receptions for 654 yards with seven touchdowns. He averaged 21.8 yards per reception, which was the best average among Big Ten receivers in 2004. Wheelwright also shattered the school's freshman receiving records for yards and touchdowns. He opened the season with touchdowns on each of his first three career receptions and currently ranks sixth in school history for single-season receiving touchdowns with seven.

Wheelwright was also a 2004 Rivals.com Freshman All-America Team second-team selection.
