GEN:Fall Academic All-Conference Teams Include 45 Golden Gophers

The Gophers ranked sixth in the Big Ten in number of student-athletes honored this fall despite being tied with Illinois and Purdue for the fewest number of fall sports at five. Indiana ranked first in the conference with 71 All-Academic student-athletes but also tied for the most fall sports with seven. Purdue had 36 student-athletes honored while Illinois had 30.
Minnesota's women's cross country team had the most honorees in its respective sport with 17, two more than Michigan. The fourth-ranked Golden Gopher women's volleyball team placed six student-athletes on the team, while the Gopher football team had 11; women's soccer seven, and men's cross country four.
Ten Gopher student-athletes earned Academic All-Conference honors each year they were eligible for the award. Mike Bialick and Joshua DoBell from the men's cross country team, Paula Hoffert, Kimberly Magee, Darja Vasilijeva and Sarah Hesser from the women's cross country team, football student-athlete Dominique Sims and volleyball team members Amanda Hokenson, Lisa Reinhart and Lindsey Taatjes were multiple Big Ten All-Academic selections during their careers.
