Duncombe Named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week

Last Friday vs. third-ranked Illinois, Duncombe was the key in Minnesota's 19-16 upset. With the Golden Gophers trailing 13-6 with four matches to go, Duncombe trailed in his match against seventh-ranked Pete Friedl at 174 pounds. Duncombe stunned Friedl with a pin in the final minute which narrowed the team score to 13-12. Minnesota went on to win two of the final three matches to hand Illinois its first loss of the season.
The following night, Duncombe defeated 14th-ranked Brady Richardson by the score of 8-4. The Golden Gophers won eight of the 10 matches in a 32-7 rout.
Duncombe moved up to No. 12 in the latest rankings from The Wrestling Mall. The transfer from St. Cloud State University is 23-12 on the season, including a 4-2 mark in the Big Ten. Duncombe is a native of St. Michael, Minn.
