Wendell Earns WCHA and National Weekly Recognition

Wendell scored six goals and two assists to propel the Gopher women's hockey team to a WCHA series sweep over the Huskies, clinching the WCHA regular season championship. In the first game, Wendell scored two power-play goals and the game-winner in a 3-1 victory. Wendell followed her Friday performance with a five-point night, scoring four goals and an assist in the 7-5 win. Wendell scored her sixth short-handed goal of the season, setting a school record for most short-handed goals in a season (6) and in a career (9). For the third-straight game, Wendell provided the game-winning goal.
Wendell and the rest of the Golden Gopher squad will host the WCHA Final Five this weekend, Mar. 12-14 at Ridder Arena. Holding the No. 1 seed, Minnesota will play the winner of the Ohio State/Minnesota State game.
